Raoul Peck uses unpublished passages of the unfinished book by James Baldwin, a famous African-American novelist and essayist, rich in archival film and photography, tells the story of racial segregation, persecution and the fight for African American law. The film was nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Feature Film.

In 1979, an Afro-American novelist and essayist, James Baldwin, wrote a letter to his literary agent, in which he presented the project he was working on - the book "Remember This House." It was a story of life and the subsequent killings of three of his friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. Baldwin did not finish the book before his death in 1987. He left only thirty pages, and the heirs of the writer entrusted the manuscript to director Raoul Pec. He decided to finalize the story in Baldwin's book, creating a filmmaking journey around the history of African Americans. He immersed himself in the complex legacy of the lives and deaths of three prominent personalities of the American anti-racist movement that permanently changed the social and political landscape of the United States.

Peck compiles Baldwin's lyrical rhetoric with rich archival material, combines the past of anti-racist civic movements with the current action of activists from #BlackLivesMatter movement. Asking questions about the black representation in Hollywood and beyond, he reflects on the legacy of racially motivated violence that continues to pervade the United States. It encourages finding deeper links between the lives and killings of the three leaders of the fight against racism, asking the definition of not only being black in America but also being another. The film is an epic story about an irrational attitude towards the "Other" and not just a racial conflict in the United States. This conflict would be considered absurd if the tragic effects of it were not to be.
